Located on the hill south of New Glarus is the New Glarus Brewery. Home of Spotted Cow and other award winning brews, it offers daily tours. In 2009, Rate Beer magazine listed the New Glarus Brewery as one of the "Best Breweries to Visit."

New Glarus is the trail head of the Sugar River Trail. Ample parking is available for your group at the depot. The village offers many places to eat and sleep.  Be sure to try some Swiss food and the local beer during your visit.

For those who enyoy ethnic heritage, "America's Little Switzerland" provides visual bliss. Village buildings present a Swiss look that welcomes you inside to discover Swiss ethnic goods and foods. Don't forget your camera!

A historical attraction well worth your time is the Swiss Historical Village. Go west on the first street intesecting the trail from the depot eight blocks (on 6th Ave.) and the museum will be on your left.  Go around the block -- the entrance is on the south side at 612 7th Ave.

Because there always seems to be something going on in New Glarus, visit the New Glarus Chamber site before coming. There are many ethnic celebrations that are unique and enjoyable.

If you need a new bike, just shopping, or need repair we recommend Basic Bike Repair located just west of the depot.

Enjoy a swim after your hike or bike ride on the Sugar River Trail.  (Fee)

The Sugar River Trail extends from New Glarus to Brodhead and goes through the villages of Albany and Monticello. The Sugar River Trail is an easy ride. Enjoy your ride through woods and prairie vegetation. At Monticello you can catch the Badger State Trail going north to see the Stewart Tunnel or head to Brodhead on the Sugar River Trail.

The wonderful people at the depot can provide information about New Glarus and the Sugar River Trail.
