The Badger Trail

Madison

The City of Madison has clearly labeled bike routes.

City of Madison Bicycle Information and Maps

The Badger-Trail is complete from just north of Belleville at Purcell Road south to Illinois.

Due to budget cuts, the Badger Trail is not going to be paved the final seven miles to Madison. The trail is paved within the city. Enjoy what is complete and talk to your legislator.

Because the Badger Trail still needs to be completed the final seven miles, and you are an experienced bike rider, you can get from downtown Madison using an on-road route. This link is slow, but will lead you to a 2007 map that will help you get to the completed portion of the Badger Trail: http://www.madisonareampo.org/MAPPDF/public_bike_map_2007.pdf

View the above map at 200% and then find Belleville on bottom (south) of map to find the Badger Trail.  From there pick a route.   Then again, if you prefer to stay off roads, put your bike on your vehicle and enjoy the Badger Trail starting at Belleville, Monticello, or Monroe.  Don't miss the tunnel located between Belleville and Monticello.

The buffalo, of a time long past, are remembered along the Badger State Trail where it crosses Midvale Boulevard.

The Badger State Trail crosses the beltline by Home Depot above. Below is the trail crossing at Midvale. Some crossings are not safe for children alone.

The objective of this site is to promote the Badger State State Trail and the Sugar River State Trail. If you are interested in linking to this site, want to advertise on the site, or have related information to share for this site, send e-mail to: webmaster@badger-trail.com
